Meditative Wonder in Kashmir Shaivism

A 2-Day Workshop with Devidatta

April 6-7, 2019

Presented in English

From Stillness to Spanda:

The Practice of Centered Awareness in Kashmir Shaivism

To enter the realm of Awareness, you must first fall in love with meditation, approaching it with total enthusiasm and longing. To cultivate this love, we invite you to a special 2-day workshop that serves as a profound introduction to the teachings of Kashmir Shaivism. The workshop is modeled on the experience Swami Lakshman Joo offered his disciples in Srinagar in the 1970s as he guided them on the path of Awareness.

This workshop will provide a space of silence and practice, with meditation sessions stretching up to 50 minutes, repeatedly. It is an experiential, progressive introduction to the meditation system of Kashmir Shaivism.

Join experienced teacher and practitioner Devidatta and dive deep to experience the journey from external asana to antarika asana, the internal attitude that is created by the awareness of the breath. Anusandhana, the state of continuously refreshed awareness, is perceived in Kashmir Shaivism as true knowledge. Together with bhakti, devotion to the Lord, it determines the state of the inner asana. Going beyond inner asana to cakrodaya pranayama brings a surrender to centered awareness. Ajapa-Gayatri is the settling of the awareness in a subtle level of breath.

This workshop is presented in English.

“This cakrodaya, which I have described according to my own experience, the teachings of my master, and the explanation of the scriptures, must be undertaken with the most refined awareness.”

-Abhinavagupta, Tantraloka (7:71)
