Semi-Solitary Retreat

Combining a Group Silent Meditation Retreat

with an Individual Retreat

Go Deeper in Silence

Stabilize Your Practice, Open Your Heart

Winter is the most inviting season to retreat. Nature goes to sleep, the weather is cold, the days are shorter, the rhythm of life slows down, and you look for a cozy place to withdraw. It’s a time for contemplation, pondering, reflecting, inquiring… a time for maturation. Perched atop a hill in the majestic Azergues Valley and surrounded by a peaceful pine forest, beautiful Domaine de Longeval is the perfect nest to foster this inner journey.

Designed to provide you an opportunity to deepen and stabilize your meditation practice and to further encourage transformation, the Semi-Solitary Retreat combines participation in a group 10-Day Hridaya Silent Meditation Retreat with a period of individual retreating. The group retreat is a profound immersion in the non-dual teachings. We highly recommended giving yourself the gift of additional time to perceive its echoes and continue its practices via a personal retreat.

If you yearn to explore the depths of the Heart, we are delighted to be able to hold space for you. You may choose to follow the 10-day group retreat with one, two, or three weeks of solo silent retreat. You are welcome to start with one week of solo retreat and then extend your stay if you feel inspired.

To support your personal retreat, you will have the guidance of one or two dedicated Hridaya Yoga teachers. They will meet with you prior to the beginning of the program to answer any questions and provide suggestions for how to most wisely spend the solo retreat period. Additionally, twice per week you will be able to communicate with them in writing to ask questions about your practice, request advice, and share any challenges that may arise. Although the solo retreat is meant to unfold in silence, verbal counseling can be arranged if required. Finally, should you choose, you may send one note per week to our founder, experienced meditation teacher Sahajananda. Whether he is on-site or not, he will respond with a personal message tailored to your experience.

“Sit quietly, and listen for a voice that will say, ‘Be more silent.’ Die and be quiet. Quietness is the surest sign that you’ve died. Your old life was a frantic running from silence. Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking. Live in silence.”
